A STORY STILL BEING WRITTEN

The second edition of the Berkeley River Lodge story

In 1911, Charles Price Conigrave stood above the Berkeley River gorge and predicted that travellers would one day come to see it. More than a century later, this book tells the story of everyone who did.

Martin and Kim Peirson-Jones built Berkeley River Lodge on an empty dune at the river mouth, and first shared that story in the lodge's original book. This second edition carries it forward.

Inside the pages

  • The 1911 expedition that gave the river its name
  • The two years it took to build a lodge where no road goes
  • The night Cyclone Fina crossed our coast, and the rebuild that followed
  • The reimagining of the lodge as it is today
  • A closing chapter of guest memories, drawn from Your Berkeley Moment

The book is still taking shape, and we hope to have it ready for next season. Register below to be among the first to hear when it's available.
